Wangkatja Tjungula Aboriginal Corporation has signed a Mining and Heritage Agreement with Carnavale Resources Ltd (ASX: CAV) and Western Resources Ltd for the Kookynie Gold Project, located 60km south of Leonora in the Eastern Goldfields.

The agreement covers the exploration, development and operational phases of the project and includes an Aboriginal Heritage Protocol to identify, protect and manage cultural heritage across the project area. It also provides for compensation, employment and contracting opportunities for WTAC and the Nyalpa Pirniku people, along with milestone payments and a royalty once gold production is achieved.

The signing marks the final step required before the granting of mining lease application M40/362.

WTAC Chairman David Canning said the agreement reflects a shared commitment to walking together in a way that recognises the rights and interests of the Nyalpa Pirniku people and supports long-term opportunities for the community.
